220 Triathlon Best On Test - Compression Guards August 2011
Compressport Compression Calf Sleeves
Getting the Compressport guards on was a battle but, unless you’re trying it in transition, this tends to be a good sign. The material felt durable and the cuffs and one-piece tube construction of the actual guard should mean no fraying or split seams. Neither the ankle or below-the-knee cuff were excessively tight, and the generous amount of unusually positioned silicon grippers did a really good job of holding the guard in place. The fit was spot on and gave a noticeable amount of compression without any discomfort. On the trails, everything felt perfectly held in place, and the guards delivered that sense of compression, support and security that really makes you feel a stronger and more confident runner. There was no slipping or riding up and, even after a tough hill workout, our tester’s calves felt surprisingly fresh.

Greeper Sports Laces
Greeper laces are worn by some of the best athletes in the world, with Rachel Joyce, Leanda Cave and Chrissie Wellington (who lends her name to these special edition offerings) all benefitting from the quick lace-tightening time saving that Greeper laces can provide. Greeper laces are essentially a lace lock system. Using traditional shoelace material, they allow lightening-fast lace tightening and secure lace fitting for the entire duraction of your run, without the risk of extra foot movement seen using elastic laces. Fitting the Geepers to your shoes should take just a few minutes, but you may need a little longer a few attempts to make sure that the lace length and fit is suitable for your shoes and feet. Once set up, the laces come into their own and vastly cut down the time needed o secure you shoes and be on our way out of T2.

220 Triathlon Editors Choice - Tri Laces Review March 2011
Greeper Sports Laces
Using traditional polyester lace rather than an elasticated design, these are deisgned in Britain and endoresed by Chrissie Wellington (a Greeper version actually includes her "Live it, Love it" motto and smiley logo). Greeper laces use a completely different system to the other brands. The fitting instructions on the packaging are clear and, once you get your head around the top-down procedure, its quick and easy to do. Putting on an tightening is a two-stage process that, although costing you a couple of seconds, ensures your shoes aren't too tight to get on. Plus they'll stay on once you're good to go. The fit achieved is second to none, and this comfy and more traditional fit will be appreciated, especially by long course races.

Yamax Digi Walker CW700 Pedometer
Expert Review: A good pedometer can be a little more expensive then some of the others. This model is made a little more durable than the SW200 series. Counts steps, activity time and total distance. Sometimes the cover can be a little difficult to open. Generally easy to use. Noise level - silent

Yamax Digi-Walker SW-200
In 2004 researchers from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville tested 13 electronic pedometers to determine which ones provided the most accurate information. Twenty volunteers wore two pedometers for 24 hours and counted the total number of steps taken. Only four out of 13 models provided accurate results while the majority of pedometers either over counted steps by up to 45 percent or underestimated steps by up to 25 percent. The Yamax Digi-Walker SW-200 was among the group of devices that provided the most accurate results in this study as well as a later University of Tennessee study of accurate pedometers.
